AIESEC Siegen’s Songbook
Editorial
The current work is the editor’s collection of AIESEC songs. Although by no means complete, yet with the editor having gathered a certain quantity of AIESEC experience, it represents a wide range of songs sung in AIESEC, as well as such coming from the outside world, which have influenced AIESEC or AIESECers, e. g. in the course of certain projects or which simply fit the somewhat particular AIESEC mood.
The editor points to the fact that he is eager to extend the volume of the current edition by any song either given to him in written or successfully taught to him by heart. Furthermore there is need to mention that the words of certain songs, which to list would exceed the editorial’s limited space, are sought by the editor and a price is set on these. Feel free to ask the editor for details at any time.
The collection is actually a textbook rather than a songbook. This is due to a variety of reasons, including the fact that a) a musical notation would almost certainly not include the particular notation required for the particular instrument available at any given time, b) whilst illiteracy is believed to be almost completely extinct in AIESEC, the knowledge of reading musical notes is limited to a somewhat smaller circle of members of the association, and a discrimination on such a basis is not in compliance with AIESEC’s philosophy, and c) it would have cost the editor a bloody hell of a lot of work to put down all the music as well. The editor is optimistic that at any given time there is usually an experienced AIESECer available who will gladly intonate the tune and lead the rest into a joyful canto.
Good golly, did you really read all this stuff? You must be crazy – or bored stiff! Now, bugger off and start singing immediately!
After the years, this songbook, originally a stapled-together paper thingy, has become a shadow of the past. Now that I put it up on the web, I feel I have to add a number of comments to clarify the chronology: My AIESEC high-times ended around 1996. So many AIESECer’s nowadays may find stuff outdated, say “I’ve never heard this song before” or “we sing that song totally different” or “why’s that other song not in it, you must have heard that one”. Well, if you whish, this is an historical songbook then. It represents AIESEC as I knew it. Another sad notation: Even my local committee, Siegen, is now a thing of the past… So I am a total outcast nowadays. The one other thing that still connects me with AIESEC (and IAESTE, that is) is the Copenhagen GetToGether. If that’s interesting, you may want to look at my website on this one. And finally, the note of the 21st century: yes, some of the annotations are really not politically correct. Well, sorry, folks, that’s what you do sing at university gatherings. And as not being politically correct is not against the law yet, I leave it at that. Look away, if you are bothered pink.

Apenas estamos comenzando la fiesta,
Apenas estamos comenzando a beber.
Por que el que bebe se emborracha,
El que se emborracha se duerme,
El que se duerme no peca,
El que no peca va al cielo,
Puesto que al cielo vamos, ¡bebamos!
Bebian, bebian, bebamos
Hasta que perezcamos
Y cuando perezcamos
Volvamos a beber -
¡Salud!

Being AIESEC
[melody taken from the German song "eine Seefahrt, die ist lustig"]
Being trainee is a pleasure,
Being trainee is much fun.
We are joining different people
And typewriting in the sun.
Holla-he, holla-ho,
holla-heya-heya-heya, holla-ho!
Being president is a pleasure,
Being president is even worse.
Always putting your long fingers
In the manager’s well-fed purse.
Holla-he, …
Being treasurer is a pleasure,
Being treasurer is quite hard.
All day fighting bills and sometimes
Longing for a credit card.
Holla-he, …
Being sponsor is a pleasure,
Being sponsor is much more.
You should listen to our story
And know what we’re going for.
Holla-he, …
Being newie is a pleasure,
Being newie is the best.
Standing all those crazy people
Is a real survival test.
Holla-he, …
Being delegate is a pleasure,
Being delegate is top.
Not just sitting in the conference,
Also drinking ex and hopp.
Holla-he, …
Singin’ in the Rain
[as AIESECer's do it]
I’m singin’ in the rain,
Just singin’ in the rain.
What a glorious feeling
I’m happy again.
Thumbs up, …
Ta-tee ta-taa, ta-tee ta-taa, ta-tee ta-ta-taa,
Huuh!
Elbows back, …
Knees bent, …
Toes together, …
Bum out, …
Head up, …
Tongue out, …
Leg up, …
Sit down, …
That’s it!
[as Gene Kelly did it]
I’m singin’ in the rain,
Just singin’ in the rain.
What a glorious feeling
I’m happy again.
I’m laughin’ at clouds,
So dark all above.
This song’s in my heart
And I’m ready for love.
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place,
Come on with the rain,
Got a smile on my face.
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain,
Just singin’, singin’ in the rain.
Dancin’ in the rain,
Yaba-dee, yaba-daa,
I’m happy again!
I’m singin’ and dancin’ in the rain.
I’m dancin’ and singin’ in the rain.

The wild Rover
I’ve been a wild rover for many a year
And I spent all me money on whiskey and beer.
But now I’m returning with gold in great store,
And I never will play the wild rover no more.
And it’s no! nay! never!
No, nay, never, no more
Will I play the wild rover,
No never, no more!
I went to an alehouse I used to frequent
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, she answered me, “nay!
Sure a customer like you I can get every day!”
I brought up from my pocket ten sovereigns bright
And the landlady’s eyes opened wide with delight.
She said, “I have whiskeys and wines of the best
And the words that you told me were only in jest.”
I’ll go home to my parents, confess what I’ve done,
And I’ll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And when they’ve caressed me as oft times before,
I never will play the wild rover no more.
What shall we do with the drunken Sailor?
What shall we do with the drunken sailor,
What shall we do with the drunken sailor?
What shall we do with the drunken sailor,
Early in the morning?
Hooray, and up she rises,
Hooray, and up she rises.
Hooray, and up she rises,
Early in the morning!
Put him in the longboat till he’s sober, …
Pull out the plug and wet him all over, …
Put in the scuppers with the hose-pipe on him, …
Shave his belly with a rusty razor, …
What shall we do with the drunken trainee, …
Let him fill in green forms till he’s sober, …
Wake him up with a glass of Ålborg, …

[as spotted in an Italian song book...]
Yavoul, Yavoul, Yavoul,
Ich liebe Alkohol
Ich drinke keine Wasser
Ich liebe Alkohol
Yavoul, Yavoul, Yavoul!
Hello, my Name is Joe
Hello, my name is Joe,
I’ve got a house and a job and a family.
I work every day in a button factory.
One day, my boss came up to me to say
“Hey Joe, are you busy?” I say
“Hey, no!” – “So push the button with your…

- …Right hand!”

American Trainee’s Song
I said a-boom-chic-a-boom!
I said a-boom-chic-a-boom!
A-chick-a-rock
A-chick-a-rock
Uuh, yeaah!
One more time!
It’s …-style!
From Coast to Coast
Na na na na na,
Na na na na na na,
I said na na na na na,
Na na na na na na.
[each line repeated by chorus]
From coast to coast,
AIESEC gives you most.
I said from coast to coast,
AIESEC gives you most!
From east to west,
AIESEC is the best!
From shore to shore,
AIESEC gives you more!
From sea to sea,
AIESEC is for me!
From beer to beer,
AIESEC gives no fear!
From head to feet,
AIESEC can’t be beat!
We are AIESEC
Everywhere we go
People want to know
Who we are – so we tell them:
We are AIESEC,
Pretty, pretty AIESEC,
Crazy, crazy AIESEC,
Bloody, bloody AIESEC,
Fucking, fucking AIESEC,
Merry, merry AIESEC,
Happy, happy AIESEC,
Lovely, lovely AIESEC!
Roll me over
This is number one and the fun has just begun.
Roll me over, lay me down and do it again -
I like the feeling!
Roll me over in the clover.
Roll me over, lay me down and do it
Again, again, again, again.
This is number…
- Two and my hand is on her shoe
- Three and my hand is on her knee
- Four and her clothes are on the floor
- Five and she’s barely still alive
- Six and she’s wild about my tricks
- Seven and she feels just like in heaven
- Eight and she cries “I cannot wait!”
- Nine and I take her from behind
- Ten and I use my fountain pen
- Eleven and she cries “again from seven”
- Twelve and she says “do it yourself”
- Thirteen and we dry us in a curtain
- Twenty and my gun is getting empty
- Twenty-one and she refills my empty gun
- Thirty and the story’s getting dirty
- Hundred and the neighbours really wonder’d
- Thousand and I need to do some pausing
- 10,394 … and still she cries for more!
Swing your Balls
Four and twenty virgins
Came down from Inverness,
When they returned to Scotland
They were four and twenty less.
Swing your balls to your partner,
Asses against the wall.
If you never got fucked on an AIESEC night,
You’ll never get fucked at all.
There was fucking in the kitchen,
There was fucking in the hall.
You could hardly hear the music
From the clanging of the balls.
Little John was also there,
But he was only eight.
He couldn’t join the fucking
So he had to masturbate.
The economist was also there,
With his willy in his hand,
Waiting for the moment
When supply would meet demand.
… tried some fuckin’
With a girl who was so tall,
He stood up on a table,
But his dick was still too small.
The village idiot was also there,
Sitting with his pole,
Pulling the foreskin o’er his head
And whistling through the hole.
… came in just in time
To see a brutal spank,
However he’s so whimpy
He could only watch the wank.
A girl from … came along,
Was horny all the night,
But no-one liked to fuck her
Cause her pussy was so tight.
The village cripple was also there,
He couldn’t do that much,
He lined them up against the wall
And finished them with his crutch.
A dirty girl who tried her best
To spread her legs apart,
Wasn’t very popular
Cause she always used to fart.
When the party was over,
Everyone confessed:
They all enjoyed the dancing
But the fucking was the best.

Frustami
Ti ho comprato
Frustina e giarrettiera
Gli stivali
E la tuta di pelle nera
Ma tu a me
Mi fai solo carezze
Mentre a me
Mi piacciona le schifezze
Frustami…
Cacami nelle orecchie
Frustami…
Strisciami sul filo spinato
Frustami…
Strappami tutti i peli
Frustami…
Come sai fare tu,
dudu, dudu, dudu, …
My Bonnie
My Bonnie lives over the ocean,
My Bonnie lives over the sea,
My Bonnie lives over the ocean
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.
Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me,
Bring back, bring back,
Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me.
My father lay over the ocean,
My mother lay over the sea,
My father lay over my mother,
that was the beginning of me.
Bring back, …
Those were the Days
Once upon a time there was a tavern,
Where we used to raise a glass or two.
Remember how we laughed away the hours,
And think about the brave things we would do.
Those were the days my friend,
We thought they’d never end,
We’d sing and dance forever and a day.
We’d live the life we’d choose,
We’d fight and never lose,
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la …
Just as I stood before the tavern,
Nothing seemed the way it used to be.
In the glass I saw a strange reflection:
Was that lonely woman really me?
Through the door there came familiar laughter,
Saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend, we’re older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same!

Always look on the bright Side of Life
[to be sung crucified]
Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on last grizzle,
Don’t grumble, give a whistle!
And this’ll help things turn out for the best.
And – always look on the bright side of life,
Always look on the light side of life.
If life seems jolly rotten,
There’s something you’ve forgotten,
And that’s to laugh and smile and and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumbs,
Don’t be silly chums,
Just purse your lips and whistle
That’s the thing.
And always look on the bright side of life,
Always look on the right side of life.
For life is quite absurd,
And that’s the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin,
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death,
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life’s a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life’s a laugh, and that’s the joke – it’s true.
You see it’s all a show,
Keep them laughing as you go,
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life,
Always look on the right side of life.

Bacardi Feeling
Come on over, have some fun,
Dancing in the morning sun.
Look into the bright blue sky,
Come on, let your spirit fly.
Living it up, this brand new day,
Summer sun, it’s time to play.
Doing things that feel so good,
Get into the motion.
Bacardi feeling
It’s never been so easy,
Bacardi dreaming
Taking it easy with Bacardi.
Just another lucky day,
No-one makes me feel this way.
Watch the waves and feel the sand,
Kiss me now and take my hand.
Hear all the laughter in the street,
Smiling in the summer heat,
Cool touch and your hand in mine,
We can be together.
All the people they turn as we walk on by.
No, loving you just feels so right,
Lighting up the darkest night.
Go, tune up the radio,
Don’t ever let me go.
All the tears I’ve cried before,
They can’t touch me anymore.
Now that you are by my side
It’s all I need to know.
Come on over, have some fun,
Dancing in the morning sun.
We can keep this dream alive
If we try.
If you’re with me
I’m gonna see you smiling.

Help!
Help!
I need somebody.
Help!
Not just anybody.
Help!
You know I need someone.
Help!
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I’m not so self-assured.
Now I find I’ve changed my mind,
I’ve opened up the doors.
Help me if you can, I’m feeling down.
And I do appreciate you being ’round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won’t you please, please, help me?
And now my life has changed in, oh, so many ways.
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But ev’ry now and then I feel so insecure.
I know that I just need you
like I’ve never done before.

Yesterday
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away,
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say,
I said something wrong,
Now I long for yesterday.
Suddenly I’m not half the man I used to be,
There’s a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to hide away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Birth control – it’s the only way to save your soul
When you stick it to your girlfriend’s hole,
Oh, I believe in birth control.
Prejudice – it’s an unexpected pregnancy
There’s a shotgun hanging over me,
Oh, I believe in birth control.
Syphilis – where the hell did I get this?
Feels like razor blades when I piss,
Oh, I believe in birth control.
Lepracy – I’m not half the man I used to be
Little pieces dropping off me,
Oh, I believe in birth control.
Amputies – you can do it with the greatest ease,
You don’t even have to spread your knees,
Oh, I believe in birth control.
Imagine
Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy if you try.
No hell below us – above us only sky.
Imagine all the people living for today.
You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one.
I hope some day you will join us.
And the world will be as one.
Imagine there’s no countries, it isn’t hard to do.
Nothing to kill and die for, and no religion, too.
Imagine all the people living life in peace.
You may say I’m a dreamer, …
Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can.
No need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people sharing all the world.
You may say I’m a dreamer, …

Yellow Submarine
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea.
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines.
So we sailed up to the sun,
Till we found the sea of green.
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
And our friends are all on board,
Many more of them live next door.
And the band begins to play -
[emulate an instrumental intermezzo]
We all live in a yellow submarine, …
As we live a life of ease,
Ev’ryone of us has all we need,
Sky of blue and sea of green,
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine, …

Happy new Year
[you shall need a lighter, or better yet sparklers for this song]
No more champagne,
And the fireworks are through,
Here we are, me and you,
Feeling lost and feeling blue.
It’s the end of the party,
And the morning seems so grey,
So unlike yesterday -
Now’s the time for us to say:
Happy new year, happy new year,
May we all have
A vision now and then
Of a world where
Every neighbour is a friend.
Happy new year, happy new year,
May we all have
Our hopes, our will to try,
If we don’t, we might
As well lay down and die,
You and I.
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives.
Oh yes, Man is a fool,
And he thinks, he’ll be okay,
Dragging on, feel okay,
Never knowing he’s astray,
Keeps on going anyway.
Seems to me now
That the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than confetti on the floor.
It’s the end of a decade.
In another ten years’ time
Who can say what we’ll find,
What lies waiting down the line
In the end of ‘89.

The way old Friends do
[hopefully you kept some of the sparklers from "Happy new year" for this one]
You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do,
And after fights and worlds of violence
We’ll make up with each other
The way old friends do.
Times of joy and times of sorrow,
We will always see it through.
Oh, I don’t care what comes tomorrow,
We can face it together
The way old friends do.

Sailing
I am sailing, I am sailing,
Home again ‘cross the sea.
I am sailing stormy waters
To be near you, to be free.
I am flying, I am flying,
Like a bird ‘cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds
To be with you, to be free.
Can you hear me, can you hear me,
Thru’ the dark night, far away.
I am dying, forever trying
To be with you, who can say.
We are sailing, we are sailing,
Home again ‘cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters
To be near you, to be free.

Aux Champs Elysées
Je m’ baladais sur l’avenue
Le coeur ouvert à l’inconnu
J’avais envie de dire bonjour
A n’importe qui.
N’importe qui et ce fut toi
Je t’ai dit n’importe quoi
Il suffisait de te parler
Pour t’apprivoiser.
Aux Champs Elysées
Aux Champs Elysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
A midi ou à minuit
Il y a tous que vous voulez
Aux Champs Elysées.
Tu m’as dit, j’ai rendez-vous
Dans un sous-sol avec des fous
Qui vivent la guitare à la main
Du soir au matin.
Alors je t’ai accompagné
On a chanté, on a dansé
Et l’on n’a même pas penser
A s’embrasser.
Aux Champs Elysées, …
As Time goes by
You must remember this:
A kiss is just a kiss,
A sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.
And when two lovers woe,
They still say, I love you,
On that you can rely.
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by.
Moonlight and love songs
Are never out of date.
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate.
Women need men
And man must have his maid,
That no-one can deny.
It’s still the same old story,
A fight for love and glory,
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

Sentimental Moments
Sentimental moments,
Moments that you shared with me,
They will last forever and ever and ever
In my memory.
Sentimental moments,
How I treasure every one,
And I live them over and over and over
When my day is done.
Those happy endless walks,
The quiet talks,
The music,
The crazy things that lovers do
When love is new…
Sentimental moments,
Share them once again with me,
And they’ll bring us closer and closer and closer
Like we used to be.

Aloha heja he
Aloha heja he – Aloha heja he.
Ihre Boote machten längsseits fest
Und mit dem Wind wehte Gelächter herüber.
Sie nahmen ihre Blumenkränze ab
Und warfen sie zu uns hinüber -
Und schon war die Party im Gange.
Ich hab’ das Paradies geseh’n,
Es war um Neunzehnhundertzehn.
Der Steuermann hatte Matrosen im Mast
Und den Zahlmeister
Ha’m die Gonokokken vernascht.

Oh, seht ihn an, oh, seht ihn an,
Dort zeigt sich der Klabautermann.
Doch wenn der letzte Mast auch bricht,
Wir fürchten uns nicht.
Das kann doch einen Seemann nicht erschüttern,
Keine Angst, keine Angst, Rosmarie.
Wir lassen uns das Leben nicht verbittern,
Keine Angst, keine Angst, Rosmarie.
Keine Angst, keine Angst, Rosmarie.

Komm’ doch, …

Hamborger Veermaster
Ick heff mol en Hamborger Veermaster sehn,
To my ho-daah, to my ho-daah,
De Masten so scheep as den Schipper sien Been,
To my ho-daah, ho-daah, hooh.
Blow, boys, blow, for Californio,
There’s plenty of gold, so I’ve been told,
On the banks of Sacramento.
Un Köhm gäv dat blots an’ Wiehnachtsobend.
Un wullt wi mol seiln, ick segg dat ja nur,
Denn löp he dree vorut – un veer wedder retour.
As dat Schep, so wör ok de Kaptein,
Kennt ji all dat nije Leid, nije Leid, nije Leid,
Wat de ganze Stadt all weit,
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh? Jau?
Sing man tau, sing man tau,
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh, jau, jau.
Sing man tau, sing man tau,
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Ostern wör se dick un drall,
Pingsten leig se dood in’n Stall,
Uns Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
As se wör in Stücken sneden,
Hett dat ganze Dörp wat kregen
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Unsen Küster Dümelank
Kreig den Stert as Glockenstrang
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Un de ole Stadtkapell’
Kreig en nijes Trummelfell
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Un uns nije Füerwehr
Kreig en Pott full Wogensmeer
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Sleswig-Holstein, meerumslungen,
Hannelt nu mit Ossentungen
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
De Möckelbörger leit’t nich slapen,
Se sett den Kopp int Lanneswappen,
Vun Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Un vum Leid dat Ende wör,
Dat de Kauh ‘n Osse wör,
Uns Herrn Pastorn sin Kauh.
Das Lied vom Hamster
Es war einmal ein Hamster,
Der hatt’ der Weiber vier,
Es war einmal ein Hamster,
Der hatt’ der Weiber vier.
Polygamie, Polygamo, Polygamia-mia-mo,
Polygamie, Polygamo, Polygamia-mo.
Da kam ein heißer Sommer,
Nahm ihm der Weiber zwei.
Bigamie, …
Da kam ein kalter Winter,
Der nahm ihm noch ein Weib.
Monotonie, …
Da kam ein großes Unglück,
Nahm ihm das letzte Weib.
Onanie, …
Da kam ein großer Traktor,
Der fuhr ihm ab sein Zsss.
Ohne Zsss, ohne Frau,
Der Hamster ist ‘ne arme Sau.
Die Moral von der Geschichte:
Die Hamster sterben aus.
Traktor hin, Traktor her,
Der arme Hamster kann nicht mehr.
Wie der Herrgott uns den Grog gab
Uns’ Petrus steiht am Himmelstor,
So miesepeterich:
He feuhlt sik nich’ god, he wer verköhlt,
De Dör wer nich’ ganz dicht.
Uns’ Herrgott käm, verschriev em dann
De rechte Medizin
Un’ seggt: “Mien Jung, dor nehm’ du man
So tüchtig en von in!”
So’n lütt bet’ Woter un’ recht veel Rum,
Un’n lütt Stück Zucker, un’ denn röhr um.
So’n recht’n bet’n nördlich, so’n recht’n bet’n stief
Dat regt den Geist di an un’ warmt dien Liev!
